yes it is normal for parents to darken up

they darkened differently, thats why I was wondering, maybe a cross wild somewhere recently ? Female got a ring like the first picture, male the more conventional like the second :?
can one of the spotted experts shed some light ?

that's not my fish, just an example of what they looked like, the female won't do it anymore :x was like that just before they attached.

I'm sure we'll see some pictures of your fry down the line. There's many people on the forum with lots of helpful information, so the odds are stacked very heavily in your favour. good luck with your discus keeping :D
