I'm setting up a water storage outside the house. I'm thinking of get one of these 55g trash can for that. Is it safe to use that?
If not, what other options out there?
thanks

I've heard Australian rubbish bins (plastic or metal) may leak chemicals into the water, and it's safer to go with food grade storage containers.
55g is about 220L? So either check a home brew shop, or a small rainwater tank might be worth looking at? I just got a 100L plastic wine barrel from a home brew shop. HTH.
Someone else might know more.....

most garbage cans would have some kind of anti fungal treatment done to them. imo safest to use food grade barrels.

Got one of the 44g Brute trash cans and it works fine.
Could not find any brewer in my area that will sell these barrels.
Thanks for the help.

it maybe diffrent in the states here in aus they put a anti fungel in the bins , hope it all goes well. if you put it out side be careful to put a lid on it , and have some water movement in it like a airstone if posable . dont put it direct sun light eather , it will grow things you dont need in the tank .
