just a suggestion for ASA is to put somewhere on there site a section where it tells you everything about the layby options, loyalty scheme and forum discouns etc as i know it has been posted many times on this forum but myself and im sure others have forgotten how some of those things work.

The loyalty scheme will actually have its own page explaining how things work when time permits getting it done.

If you enter asaforummember in the coupon code area up to 5% will be discounted from most non-sale items listed on the site.

Tossing up between retro-fitting the hood of my 6 ft aquaone with 2 staggered Aqua Medic 80w units (2 tubes each), or chucking the (black) hood and sitting a 5ft Geismann 4x80w unit (silver) on the plastic struts.

Wasn't sure whether to put this here or in the equipment section.

Would the geismann unit melt the struts? (Probably a dumb question, but I still don't know the answer)

Does the geismann unit come with globes? If so, which?

Giesemann dont use plastic struts...


The Overtank legs are developed for the REFLEXX T-5 and REFLEXX sunrise series and are manufactured from corrosion resistant, matt black powder-coated, stainless steel.

Unlike a conventional aquarium hood, with these legs your lighting will raised from the tank on sturdy supports, which attach securely onto each end of the aquarium, and are adjustable to allow for slight differences in tank length.

When access to the aquarium, or to the tubes is required, your REFLEXX light tilts backwards, and rests on its hinge until being lowered back into place.

The plastic is on the tank, not the light fitting - if I just sat the light on the plastic struts across the width of the tank that is currently holding the weight of the hood. Would that be OK, or does it have to be held up off the tank, like the picture?

It is fine for use with a planted tank however I would suggest changing it down the track
