What is the best colour background for discus?

I know that dark backgrounds are usually best for colourful fish, as the contrast makes the fish look more colourful. However, I have read that lighter colours work best with discus, as they change their colours according to their environment, so a dark background will result in a darker discus. Also, apparently pigeon blood discus will have less peppering with a lighter background

pigeon blood look cleaner with a light background. now days good pigeon blood dont show much peppering even in darker backgrounds. i feel most strains look better in a darker background especially browns and turks.
