DON'T WORK!!!!
the light just doesn't fit under the freakin hood at all.
it's too wide.
the only option I have is to cut into the hood and I'm not doing that anytime soon
also,
IMHO, the aquamedic t5 light produces great light but it's crap in design. you need to remove the side plates to get the bulbs in and the tank stands, the perspex that ships with it is slightly too small and falls out if moved to roughly while mounting it on the tank.
the side plates seem to be structural to the light each time you remove them , the next time it's harder to put back in.
my score
light produced = 10/10
construction = 5/10
compatibility = don't try and use it with a hood!
so, do I burn 350 bux and go looking for another light, chop into the hood, or leave the stupid light above the hood (not much point in having a hood for doing that!.
or the other option
pull the damn light apart and toss the metal cover away and mount it in the hood.
whats the downside of this ? would I need to silicon up all the wiring ?
