Welcome to the forum Fisher.
For breeding discus you water needs to be soft, and slightly acidic.
Most of the water in Australia is naturally soft, so we are very lucky here, but in other countries, if your water is very hard, you may need to use a Reverse Osmosis unit to make your water soft enough for breeding. Ideally your water for breeding should be around 5 or 6 degrees of GH or less.
Your pH should be around 6 to 6.8 for breeding.
Hard and alkaline water will discourage your pairs from breeding, and the eggs from hatching.
