Hello All,

I'm thinking of converting my Aqua one AR850 lights, to use 2 of these compact fluro bulbs.

http://www.hollandforge.com.au/en-us/dept_6.html

These globes fit standard light fittings, either bayonet or screw type. They have a bright (6500k Daylight) colour and only use 20watts of power, and have the equivalent of 100watt output.

Has any one used these ??

I used one over a nano (see nano tank diary in amazon section)
worked a treat. plants where pearling straight away.

Ive used them on my nano as well, got them from Bunnings....
Havent had explosive growth, which is weird as im using homebrew co2.

I'd say the 100 equivalent quote would be relative to incandescent lighting like the house ones you buy anywhere, which means jack to us. Its just 20watts. As apposed to the next one on the page which is actually 135watts.

Thanks slime76,

Unfortunately the 135w buld will not fit under the light fitting of the AR850, but it would be the way to go.

are you sure your bulb is a 6400k.
I`m 99% sure bunnings don`t stock them.
may have something to do with little growth?

if you are trying to get reasonable plant growth, you need your k`s in the 6400k range.
adding more lights does not add to the k`s.

you should also be looking to get around the 2 watts per gallon mark for reasonable plant growth. more for some high light reqiurement plants.
this is where adding more light units helps.

average out your k`s
and add your watts.
