Where did you get them from?

I got them at Exotic fish Connections...Rocklea
They had just arrived and the owner was upset because he was told they were 20mm long but they were only 15. He suggested I let them settle and come back in a couple of days....but I wasn't leaving his shop without a pair in a bag!!!
He got them from bayfish so most shops should be able to order them in!
Think I might set up a little heavily planted cube...just for them!

Stunning colour - are they naturally like this??
$30 for a 1.5cm isn't that bad really - we paid lots more for our addictions.....

Kevkoi informed me that these fish are cave spawners....but the build a bubble nest (like bettas) in the roof of the cave to spawn in!
My male isn't quite as colourful as the photo....yet! :D
Christmas has come early for me!

Rod,
Very very nice fish.
What kind of water parameters do they like? What's their temperament like?

I understand they like soft water, neutral ph,planted tank with sand substrate?
Coconut cave to spawn in.
I think they are quite passive....go well in a community with other small fish....rasboras, clown killies, dwarf loaches?

Beautiful fish! Well done!
I just read on AOA (I think) that they prefer 26c. Could they tolerate 28c? Could you put them in a large discus tank? What I mean is, could I put them in a large discus tank?
(Very jealous by the way, could you post more photos when they settle in?)

I wish....turns out I have only males.....and I've bough 6 others trying to get a female....and now have 10 males...Any one want to swap some males for a female???
Apparently females are very hard to come by....it's a common complaint on overseas forums.....but I haven't given up. Hope to buy some more soon.
Full grown they are only 30mm long....and some of the dominant males have better colour than the first photo....and they are constantly displaying to each other....their whole body and fins shaking
I'm sure I can breed them if I can get a female.....males are randy little buggers....the photo is 2 males!

Just wondering if this is the fish on the cover of June 2006 Tropical Fish Hobbyist? I think I actually saw some in a LFS around Auburn, or am I dreaming? I think they are perfect for my fish tank at work!

They wouldn't hurt the discus.....but I imagine a full grown discus might have them as a snack???
You don't need a big tank.....a pair in a 300 cube nano

oh ... I used to have one of these before ...
They are pretty shy fish and always gone hiding (that's what happened to mine ... )
They definitely won't kill your discus but it might starve to death as to fight to get food with your discus. They are pretty picky in food. Mine always want a live food and won't touch any colorbits.
hope this help ... :)
